Nationwide credit data monitoring for Central Bank

Objective

The Central Bank of Libya wanted to build its first tool to monitor and manage credit data from all branches of four banks nationwide on a monthly basis.

Key challenges:

  • Some branches do not have access to a network or Intranet or E-mail
  • Some branch users have extremely limited IT skills and experience
  • All forms and reports must be in Arabic

Technical solution

  • A stand-alone "Branch tool" deployed decentrally, with easy-to-use GUI and automated translation facilitation
  • A central database supporting flexible reporting and analysis of overall credit risk
  • Branch tool exports data for integration into a central database

Result

  • Robust architecture handling lack of infrastructure
  • All branches could participate despite lack of infrastructure: export data files sent to central bank via email or courier
  • Central bank gained full insight into credit data
